How did you get involved in roller derby?

My cousin had joined a few years ago and tried to get me to join, but I didn’t think I could handle the week night practices. I randomly saw a news article on Facebook about new skater night and decided to check it out.

What is your personal derby goal for this season?

I want to get better at skating backwards.

What do you like to do outside of derby?

Hang out with my dogs, build Lego sets, watch tv shows, go to art fairs, see musicals

What do you like most about derby?

I love how supportive everyone is. I started as a total beginner, and I don’t think I would have been brave enough to try a lot of things without all the tips and encouragement I’ve received from people.

What do you do for a living?

I’m an operations manager for a medical management company.

Tell us about your derby name and number.

My derby name is based off my last name, Shoemaker, and my derby number is my mom’s birthday.

​​How many hours have you spent in a tattoo chair?

Maybe 50? I’ve always got a new tattoo idea though, so I’m sure that number will keep going up.
